Chapter 03Contrast · Color Psychology

How to use color

Contrast Strategy

Your level · HIGH

High — you can carry strong contrasts. Lean into clean light/dark pairings.

Do

Pure White + Warm Stone + Poppy Red. Warm, bright, photographs happy.

Avoid

Dusty Pastel + Muted Plum + Olive. Cool or muted tones flatten your warm clarity.

Color Psychology — when to wear what

  • Poppy Red Warmth · charisma Dates, parties, content-creator days
  • Fuchsia Authority · momentum Keynotes, pitches, high-stakes meetings
  • Aqua Trust · intelligence Client pitches, investor meetings
  • Cobalt Calm confidence Creative presentations, press
  • Pure White Grounded polish Default tailoring, neutral base
  • Warm Stone Optimism · energy Weekends, brunch, social shoots

Chapter 05Silhouettes & Proportion

Cuts that suit you

Your coloring asks for a specific shape. Match the silhouette to your contrast level.

Jackets
Clean shoulders, defined waist, cropped or hip-length. Avoid oversized slouch.
Tops
Fitted, crew or V-neck, precise collar. Avoid heavy drape.
Bottoms
Straight leg, cigarette trouser, tailored wide-leg. Mid-to-high rise, clean hem at the ankle.
Dresses
Sheath, slip with structure, wrap with defined waist. Short or midi — avoid below-calf.
Outerwear
Trench, single-breasted coat. Length: knee or just below.
Proportion
Show one-third leg break. Tuck front-only to keep the waist marked.

Before you tap "buy"

  1. 01 Is this one of my 24 palette colors, or close enough that hex matches within 10%?
  2. 02 Does the fit mark my waist and end at a bone (hip, ankle, wrist)?
  3. 03 Does it photograph well — enough contrast, enough structure?
  4. 04 Can I build three outfits from my capsule around it right now?
  5. 05 Is the fabric clean and appropriate for my season — not muted if I'm clear, not stark if I'm soft?

Chapter 10Your 10 Rules

Daily quick reference

Keep this page open on your phone before you shop. Or print it, tape it to your closet.

  1. 01 Keep contrast high near the face. Ivory + warm navy + a saturated accent is your base formula.
  2. 02 Warm navy replaces black. Save true black for structured tailoring below the waist.
  3. 03 Bright yellow gold, not rose gold. Your undertone loves clean warmth.
  4. 04 Clear color beats muted. If it looks freshly painted, it is yours.
  5. 05 Mark the waist — tuck, belt, or cinch. Ignore silhouettes that erase it.
  6. 06 Sharp shoes. Pointed, polished, or clean white. Rounded clog shapes read wrong on you.
  7. 07 One statement color per outfit, sharpened by ivory or warm navy.
  8. 08 In doubt, choose emerald, cobalt, or poppy red.
  9. 09 Print sparingly. Polka dots and graphic stripes only — florals must be crisp.
  10. 10 Never pair dusty tones together. They flatten your signal.
