Make the brief work at your appointment
- Keep a reference close to your current color alongside a more adventurous option, and explain what you like about each.
- Share your treatment history. Ask which direction is realistic for your hair now and whether the change would need stages.
- Discuss root regrowth, fading, appointment spacing and the total upkeep before choosing a plan.
A little more guidance
Can I use this if I do not know my color season?
Yes. Your current color, history, desired change and upkeep preferences still shape the brief. A season is an optional color reference, not a requirement for exploring your next hair color.
Will the quiz tell me which dye or bleach to use?
It suggests directions to discuss, not a formula or a guaranteed result. Starting color, earlier treatments and hair condition affect what is achievable. Larger lightening changes can also cause more damage, so a palette alone cannot settle that decision.
Why does previous coloring or straightening matter?
The lengths may have a different treatment history from new growth. Sharing that history gives your colorist a better starting point for assessing the change and planning how to approach it.
Can I want a noticeable change and simple upkeep?
Yes, but it is useful to discuss the tradeoff. Ask how each option would look as your roots grow and the color fades, and whether a smaller change or a different placement would better fit the routine you want.
